BMore Global

Building on a Theory of Change as the foundation for Organizational Development

The problem

B More Global partners with Baltimore City schools to give students a year of global-citizenship programming that culminates in a subsidized study-abroad trip. The organization had a Theory of Change developed by outside experts, but it hadn't yet become a working tool for the team's strategy, measurement or communications. Program and operational data lived in many places (shared drives, inboxes and paper forms), and the organization's messaging focused more on activities than on impact.

The solution

Katie facilitated a Theory of Change workshop in which the team reviewed and refined the existing model, made it their own, and translated it into measurable objectives and KPIs. With that shared foundation in place, she:

  • Built the Bmore Global Information System, an Airtable information system structured around the Theory of Change, to collect, store and manage program and operational data in one place
  • Led a fast, low-cost brand refresh, relaunching the website and rewriting messaging around impact

The impact

A Theory of Change the team owns and uses as the foundation for everything they do, from KPIs and data collection to how they describe their work to funders, schools and families.
